Direct answer
The warranties that matter are the module product warranty, the module performance warranty, the inverter warranty (often shorter), the battery cycling/retention warranty if fitted, and a separate workmanship / waterproofing warranty from the installer. Ask who you call in year eight.
The parent pages are solar panels and installers. We will not invent a year-25 percentage for a model we have not read.
Five documents, five jobs
| Document | Job | The question |
|---|---|---|
| Module product | Defects in the panel | Who is the Australian warrantor? |
| Module performance | Degradation curve | What percentage is written for year 25? |
| Inverter | The conversion box | How many years, and who services it here? |
| Battery | Cycles and retention | Usable kWh, not only the sticker |
| Workmanship | Holes, flashings, cable entry | Who comes back when the ceiling stains? |
A glossy module brand next to a 12-month workmanship clause is a mismatched pair. Tile roofs make this obvious after the first storm season — see tile mounting.
Who stands behind it in Australia
An overseas letterhead is not a local entity you can serve. Ask for the Australian warrantor. CEC listing is a start, not a finish. See resources.
Inverter warranties are commonly shorter than module performance warranties. Budget a replacement in the life of the array. That is planning, not a scare. See inverters.
What a warranty is not
It is not a yield promise. It is not a ranking. It is not a reason to skip the quote comparison. It does not replace insurance for hail in inland New South Wales or a tree through a roof.
Keep the pack: design, electrical certificate, STC assignment, photos of the roof and the inverter label. Monitoring drop-offs are the early warning — see maintenance.

Keep the pack
Design, electrical certificate, STC assignment, photos, and the five documents on the table. Monitoring drop-offs are the early warning. See panels, installers, tile mounting, and maintenance.
Year eight is the test
Who do you call. Product, performance, inverter, battery, workmanship. An overseas letterhead is not a local warrantor. Keep the pack.
Carry this into the quote meeting
Five documents, one workmanship contact, one Australian warrantor. Keep the pack. Year eight is the test.

- How to compare two solar quotes fairly →
Line up kilowatts, models, mounting, inclusions, and STC treatment. A cheaper net price with thinner paper is a different job, not a saving.
- East-west vs north-facing roof: which is better? →
A clear northerly pitch still maximises annual energy in most of Australia. East-west can match morning and afternoon loads better. Shade beats both arguments.
- What maintenance does rooftop solar need? →
Look from the ground, keep gutters clear, and hire a professional if soiling is heavy or the inverter alarms. Do not walk a live tiled roof.
